“The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
“Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; he is the one.” So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power.” 1 Samuel 16:13
“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does NOT look at the things man looks at. Man looks at THE OUTWARD APPEARANCE, but the Lord looks at the HEART.” 1 Samuel 15:30
We can spend our whole lives following what our eyes, and thoughts tell us, but is it not just our own silly reasoning?! I know for I’ve done it a lot and at the end of the day and even at the end of the year where does it get me? NO WHERE REALLY! And unless the Lord builds the house they labor in VAIN! Psalm 127:1
So I’m now constantly saying to the Lord, “Unless YOU TELL ME SOMETHING I just WON’T KNOW!”
“Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what to do. You are to anoint for me the one I indicate.” 1 Samuel 16:3
Tis interesting that Saul’s name is one vowel away from the word, “Soul!” And because he did not do what the Lord was telling him thru Samuel he ended up being replaced by David.
Pride had also entered in, “Early in the morning Samuel got up and went to meet Saul, but he was told, “Saul has gone to Carmel. There he has set up a monument in his own honor and has turned and gone on down to Gilgal.” 1 Samuel 15:12
Samuel 15:22-23 is the culmination of God’s judgment against Saul and WHY he is being rejected.
So as we proceed into the things of God and the anointing of the Holy Spirit let us remember these warnings continually.
I have felt quite bulldozed for over a year now with NO real answers coming for my health issues, and I do believe that if God wanted to He could’ve just healed me in a few seconds, so why is He allowing it?
As a child my father would have these sayings, “Stand on your own two feet and look big!” and “Pull up yourself by your own bootstraps!” I really CAN’T blame him either, for he got those sayings from his father who was a Troop Commander in the Army (A CQMS in the UK).
The world also teaches us to rely upon our OWN SELVES and dishes that philosophy our daily. We are also rewarded monetarily, and educationally and every other way for our hard work and self reliance!
It suddenly struck me heavily “how evil I had become” and cried out telling the Lord that “I was SO sorry for it all!
Pastor Bill Winston has said the following;
-“Adam was NOT meant to be led by his senses, but by his spirit instead”.
-“Adam became a walking dead man just like people are today! Adam ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil so his knowledge all come from his 5 senses instead of the Spirit of God. The enemy likes that for he can control what you see then and you can become deceived by what you see.
-“Jesus came to restore us back to our original mode of operation. 1 Corinthians 2:9-11 Our potential is not in our flesh, but in our spirit. We have to get God’s plan for our lives and not our own. Our minds will not produce a miracle, but the Spirit can!”
And so I am still getting MY LESSONS even though I’ve known the Lord for years! I sense it is a season of preparation for God’s people, and I hope and pray that you are realizing the lessons He is giving you also even if they are NOT the same ones that I am getting.
